Alright when we started with this 5 weeks ago, everybody was asking where our chowder was??,… Cheffy we need the chowder, Pete! “Where’s the chowder??”…. well sometimes good things are meant to wait… and the wait is over! We’ve changed it up a little and it actually reminds me more of the chowders that I used to eat growing up as a youngster on the west coast.
Creamy chowder base with bacon, leeks, onion and celery…. Bay scallop, haddock and matane shrimp…. Am I allowed to swear here?... “It’s fucking delicious”
Seafood Chowder a la The Whalesbone “classic”
We’ve made this pretty dead simple guys and gals…. Get a pot, pour soup and chowder mise en place (in this cases the small container of fish, leek and potatoes) into pot. Bring to a boil, simmer for 5-10 minutes and serve in warm bowls.
Garnish with oyster crackers and serve with some crusty bread of sorts… see if we have any baked sourdough loaves for sale at the shop left,… when all else fails some saltine crackers will do the trick!
